IT WONT WORKK! Sad

I've tried multiple FTP servers, I've tried opening / closing ports, blocking / unblocking programs in firewall, I even disabled my firewall and still nothing..
I have tried other FTP programs and they don't seem to work either..

Any thoughts?

The latest stable version of FileZilla Client is 3.2.8.1
Please select the file appropriate for your platform below.
FileZilla_3.2.8.1_win32.zip
Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 are supported

I use it all the time, though not with Win7 that I recall when I was running it, but Vista so should be no difference there.  I have on occasion seen the kind of message you are getting when I was logging in with user name and password instead of anonymous and password.  Try that and it may do the trick.

What version are you running?  The home versions dont have all the same ftp and domain abilities as the professional/bussiness versions.  On you may need to turn on simple file sharing and/or network discovery

That won't work as I know that I need a user name and password to gain access.

Ultimate.
How do I turn that stuff on?

I got it wrong...  I just looked at my various logins with Filezilla and all have user name and password, what you might want to try is switching to either Normal or Account on the Logontype setting, that's what I was actually referring to earlier when I mistakenly said try anonymous.  I have some logins that work with Normal, I have some that work with Account.

Good Luck,

How do I turn that stuff on?

control panel
network and sharing center

it'll say what your sharing and discovery settings are.  You may have your connection setup as a public connection which will disable alot of things by default.  If its your secure network, make it private and turn on the sharing settings you need.

P.S.  does your even monitor say anything about the services the server needs failing to start or anything?

Fatty -- The exact settings I use on W7 work on Dads XP computer and let me on.

Everything in the Network & Sharing Center is what it should be..

event monitor or in vista event viewer in the administrator tools in the control panel.  Any errors it'll throw into there along with some basic info which u can use to debug the problem.  Under the custom tab there is an administrative events one by default that is any warnings or errors and the windows logs tab breaks it down like it did in xp by application, security, system, and so on.
